Who We’re Praying For

This page is devoted to a few specific people that we are continually keeping up in prayer. Check back periodically to see if anyone is added to the list. Here’s a breakdown of the different groups we are targeting:

Entertainment Industry

In the entertainment industry today there are many influential and well known people. From singers to actors to musicians, many are known worldwide. They have a worldwide stage that they stand on, with people from all over the world looking at them- sometimes with respect, sometimes with disdain. The thing about being this well known is that they have a great opportunity to affect somebody’s life. Unfortunately many of them don’t know God. Instead we find many going through life threatening battles. The loss of hope is the norm.

It’s sad to see what some celebrities go through today. From drinking issues to pregnancy, to drug overdoses, the people in the entertainment industry are overcome by bondage and grief. Many of us know from experience that during the lowest parts of our lives our hearts cry out to God more than ever before. As celebrities go through their battles, the reality is this- they have to be hungry, and we see them try to fulfill that hunger somewhere else. We know that only God can fill that hunger inside of them. So let’s pray for them. Let’s pray that God would draw them, and bring them to a complete love for Him. Let’s pray that God would use their fame to bring glory to His name. We believe that these celebrities can become great Christians and great people. Maybe it just takes us getting down on our knees before God on their behalf.

Sports Industry

In this day and age, the sports world is very influential in every day life. From raving fans to high dollar paychecks, professional athletes live a high life. How many of them know God though? There are some. Within the professional arena there are a few lights shining out there such as Tony Dungy or Dwight Howard. But many more need to meet the saving power of Jesus Christ.

Humility and integrity are just as important as competitiveness, and finding God is just as important as winning. We believe that God can completely change the face of professional sports into an image that glorifies Him. So let’s pray for professional athletes. Let’s pray that they might not only meet God, but be changed and used by Him for great things wherever they are. Let’s pray that God will transform professional sports, and through that, change the world.

Our Nation’s Leaders

1 Timothy 2:1-5 states “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus…”

In today’s world, our politicians prove a huge role in shaping the outcome of today and future of tomorrow. Every election from the President all the way down to city council is hard fought. It’s sad to see how much people fight over politics, especially Christians. As Christians we strive to live in submission to God, and direction from him- in every part of our life. So, instead of our political orientation and beliefs being ours, we should really be after the heart of God to find out what He desires us to believe and think. That is true submission.

It’s important to understand this because if we don’t, instead of praying for our leaders, we hate them. Instead of lifting them up, we tear them down with our words and our actions. It doesn’t matter what political orientation or color of skin our leaders have, it’s still our duty to pray for them! It’s clearly stated in the Bible. The Bible also commands us to love, and not hate, and when we do have enemies, to pray for them. It doesn’t matter what a president has or hasn’t done. It doesn’t matter what a Congressman believes. They are people as well, and they need God. It’s very difficult to understand the weight of the yoke on the shoulders of our leaders. That’s why it’s important to pray for them. We should be praying for our President, that God would give him guidance and wisdom. We should be praying for our Congressmen and Senators that they would make wise decisions. We should be praying for our leaders, that they would find God and be changed into His image. It doesn’t matter what political party they’re with, or what they’ve done to make us mad. Let’s pray for them and see what God does in their lives!

Business Industry

The things that go on in the corporate world could blow our minds sometimes. From scandals and fraud to high dollar mergers and company changing decisions, there’s always a lot on the line in the business world. Some of the decisions that executives make every day directly affect our own lives. That being said, it’s no surprise then that we should be praying for the corporate executives and decision makers. We should be praying that God will give them wisdom to make right and moral decisions, and that they would not stain our culture with unethical activities.

Christian Celebrities

We’re praying for all the celebrities in any industry that already know Jesus. Let’s pray that God continues to use them every day and draw them close!
